Acadian Federation of NS pressing province to restore ridings

The Acadian Federation of Nova Scotia is pressing the province to restore three protected ridings before the next election.

The Nova Scotia Court of Appeal ruled a 2012 boundary redrawing by the former NDP government violated voter rights.

The Federation believes an interim process can be launched quickly, and would let the government drop the writ when it chooses.

Acadia University names new president/vice-chancellor

Dr. Peter J. Ricketts has been named Acadia’s 16th President and Vice-Chancellor.  The international search and campus consultation process began last June, with Ricketts being the current Provost and Vice-President at Carleton University in Ottawa.  His six-year term starts in July to replace Ray Ivany, who’s retiring at the end of June.
