Disabilities concerns in NS

Progress has been slow in moving people with disabilities out of institutions and into housing in the community, according to a new survey.

75% of the people with disabilities and their caregivers who were surveyed felt progress has been poor with some aging parents worried they’ll die before their children have an appropriate place to live.

The province says new money has help move 16 people into new homes with another 40 to be moved by the end of June, but there are over 1,300 such people are on waiting lists.

Marshy Hope incident

A Bridgewater man is facing serious charges after speeding and crashing on Highway 104.

RCMP say a car was clocked doing 200kph and passing several cars in a no-passing zone near Marshy Hope just before it crashed through a guardrail and down an embankment.  The driver wasn’t injured, but he’s now facing a charge of dangerous driving in court in June.
