Consumer spending is up in Nova Scotia. Moneris’ new report has spending up 2.3% year over year in the first quarter of 2017; restaurants led the way with a 9.1% increase. Canadian spending period went up 3.5% year over year.

Two tidal power projects get funding from competition
Two projects will get funding through a joint research competition sponsored by the Offshore Energy Research Association of Nova Scotia, Department of Energy and INNOVACORP. Open Seas Instrumentation of Musquodoboit Harbour was awarded $135,000, and JASCO Applied Sciences of Dartmouth $65,000. Both tidal power environmental monitoring projects are based in the Bay of Fundy.
