PTSD

New provincial legislation will make it easier for emergency response workers with PTSD to get benefits. Workers’ Compensation Act amendments will ensure workers no longer have to prove their diagnosis was caused by a workplace incident. They’ll also further clarify the claim process and who can access benefits.

Classrooms

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will immediately act on recommendations of the Council to Improve Classroom Conditions. The council committed $9.3 million to hire at least 139 new teachers. It also recommended provincewide class size caps for junior high, middle and high school, among other things.
