Deadbeat dad case in NS

A deadbeat dad is facing jail time for not paying child support.

Michael Hill owes $34,000 in child support payments and the judge told him to pay up or he could go to jail for 90 days.  The judge also lifted his drivers license and passport.

Hill was given 45 days to pay half of what he owes and present a plan to pay the rest or he’s going to jail.

Valley election items

In Annapolis County, health care is an issue regarding the provincial election on May 30th.

Vying for a seat are PC Ginny Hurlock, NDP’er Colin Sproul; and Liberal Stephen McNeil.

They all feel that health care needs to be a priority for the riding.

ER closures have also been cited as a continuing problem.

In Hants West, Lalia Kerr is in the running for the NDP, Chuck Porter for the liberals; and Janice Munroe Dodge for the Tories in the provincial election.

Issues include the ongoing debates on fire services, health care; and the proposed heritage arena.

Politicians in Kings County are off and running.

Vying for the crown in Kings South is Tory candidate Peter Harrison, incumbent Liberal Keith Irving; and NDP’er Stephen Schneider.

In Kings North, it’s Ted Champion for the NDP; incumbent Tory John Lohr, and Liberal Geof Turner.

Kings West has the NDP’s Cheryl Burbidge, incumbent Liberal Leo Glavine; and Tory Chris Palmer.
