A man and a woman from Shelburne are facing drug charges after a traffic stop in nearby Sable River this week. RCMP say the 44-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were arrested after being pulled over on Wednesday. Both are facing a charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. RCMP have not identified what controlled substance the pair were in possession of.

Search Continues for Missing Cape Breton Fisherman
Advanced sonar equipment and technical personnel have been sent from Halifax to aid in the search for a 56-year-old man who fell overboard Monday while fishing on Cape Breton’s Mira River. Cape Breton Regional Police divers, fire department water rescue personnel and several local boats have been searching the river in the Albert Bridge area, where the man’s boat was found. The missing man is Murray Francis Reid, who is known to be an avid fisherman and sportsman.
