Two Regions of Nova Scotia on List of Lowest Incomes

A new report on wages in Canada ranks two economic regions of Nova Scotia as being among the lowest in average income. The Statistics Canada 2016 wage survey report ranked the Annaoplis Valley region as having the fifth lowest average income in Canada at $21.75 per hour. The North Shore region of the province along the Northumberland Shore was ranked as the eight lowest average hourly salary at $22.05 per hour. Alberta dominated the list of the highest average incomes with six of its seven economic regions in the top ten.

Deliberations to Continue in Murder of Dalhousie Student

Jurors are expected to continue deliberations today in the trial of Halifax medical student William Sandeson, accused of killing a physics student during a drug deal. The Crown has argued Sandeson planned the murder to alleviate his debts. He is charged with the first-degree murder of 22-year-old Taylor Samson, whose body has never been found. Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice Josh Arnold gave jurors his final instructions before deliberations began at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday
