Amendments to the Builders’ Lien Act are in effect today.  They allow for the earlier release of financial holdbacks to those building trades who finish work on construction.  Regulations ensure notice is given when a project is substantially done.

The Canadian Free Trade Agreement comes into effect tomorrow.  Along with making it easier to do interprovincial trade, it establishes a new framework for review over the next year in areas like alcohol, fisheries, territorial food sector and financial services.  About half of Nova Scotia’s trade in goods and services is interprovincial.
