Person of Interest in Halifax Murders to Remain in Jail

A person of interest in two Halifax murders last spring will remain behind bars. The CBC is reporting the Parole Board of Canada has ruled Tyrell Peter Dechamp will not be released early. Dechamp is currently serving a 64 month sentence for second degree murder committed while he was a minor and aggravated assault. In it’s decision, the parole board cited Dechamp as a person of interest in two murders committed last April 17th and April 19th in Halifax. Those dates coincide with the murders of local basketball star Tyler Richards and Naricho Clayton. Dechamp was under statuary release after serving two thirds of his sentence at the time but failed to return to his halfway house the night after Clayton was murdered. He was arrested in Ottawa 8 days later.
