Stanfield International Airport Posts Record 2016

A record number of travelers passed through Halifax Stanfield International Airport in 2016. In a release, the airport authority says just over 3.9 million passengers traveled through its gates last year. That number represents a new record and a 5.6 percent increase over 2015. Domestic traffic accounted for nearly 84 percent of all travelers visiting the airport. Cargo carried through the airport also saw an increase of 4.1 percent with live lobster shipping accounting for much of the increase. The airport authority says they expect more then 4-million passengers to travel through the airport in 2017.

Halifax Expecting Record Breaking 2017 Cruise Ship Season

The Halifax Port Authority is anticipating a record setting cruise ship season in 2017. In a release, the Port Authority says 179 cruise ships are scheduled to visit Halifax this year carrying a total of 275-thousand passengers. That’s up from 2016 which saw 238-thousand guests arrive on 136 vessels. The first port call to Halifax in 2017 is scheduled for April 24th with the final ship visiting on October 31st. The busiest day of the season is expected on October 3rd when 11-thousand cruise ship passengers will visit Halifax on the same day.
