Heritage Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow is Heritage Day in Nova Scotia. It’s the third year of the relatively new holiday. The province says it plans to honour Mi’kmaw heritage tomorrow by celebrating the accomplishments of the Mi’kmaw community in the province with a number of events, including hockey games being played in Membertou and Truro. As well, the Museum of Natural History, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Museum of Industry and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia will be all be free of charge on Monday.

Abandoned Flipped Car Leads to Impaired Driving Charges

A 35-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving after a flipped vehicle was left abandoned in the Fairview neighborhood of Halifax last night. Police were called to the scene on Ashdale Avenue shortly after 8pm and discovered the unoccupied vehicle on its roof. A 35-year-old man was located in the area a short time later and taken into custody. Police say the man sustained minor injuries in the crash. He’s since been charged with impaired driving and will return to court next month.
