NHL…the Leafs shut down Carolina 4-0. Jets clipped the Senators 3-2. Flyers beat the Canucks 3-2. Bruins needed overtime to beat the Sharks 2-1. The Penguins lost 5-2 to the Red Wings.
In the NBL….Hurricanes lost 108-101 in Orangeville.
The West beat the East 192-182 in the NBA All-Star game with Anthony Davis scoring a record 52 points. Raptors guard Kyle Lowry scored 19 points and teammate DeMar DeRozan added 16.
A sold out crowd is expected tonight as UFC mixed martial arts returns to Halifax. UFC Fight night returns to Halifax for the first time since October of 2014 with a heavyweight bout between veterns Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne headlining the event. However, the focus for many will be the UFC debut of undefeated, Newfoundland born Gavin Tucker. Tucker, who trains out of the Titans gym in Halifax, has gone 9-and-0 to start his MMA career and will make his UFC debut against veteran Sam Sicilia of the United States. Tucker is one of five Canadians on tonight’s card.
