Election campaign – Healthcare

Health care was the key issue for the party leaders on the campaign trail on the weekend.

Premier Stephen McNeil says the Liberal government’s changes to health care have lowered administration costs and directed resources toward patients.

Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie says 100,000 Nova Scotians are still on waiting lists for a family doctor.

NDP Leader Gary Burrill attended a Cape Breton health-care rally organized by doctors and spoke with them and residents about their health-care concerns.

600 show up at doctors’ rally in CB

Over 600 people showed up at a rally in Sydney Mines yesterday which was organized by doctors.

They warned provincial politicians the health-care system is in immediate crisis. They said family doctors and specialists are leaving Cape Breton and are not being replaced. That is stressing out those who remain and causing harm to patients who need services now.
