The Nova Scotia Teachers Union is joining the provincial Federation of Labour.
Delegates at the annual council of the Teachers Union voted 77% to join the federation. Union president Liette Doucette says teachers want to collaborate with other unions to advance the cause of all workers in the province.
It was Battle of the Atlantic Sunday at Pt. Pleasant Park and in communities across Canada.
The ceremonies marking the longest battle of World War II paid tribute to the 3,600 Canadians who lost their lives keeping the sea lanes open to Britain during the war. 103 Canadian ships were sunk.
There are fewer and fewer veterans each year attending the ceremonies. A Frigate carrying the ashes of veterans who have died in the last year was delayed by fog before it headed out drop the ashes at sea.
