The Lorne Grabher licence plate controversy is going to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court. The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is representing the Dartmouth man, saying his being denied the personalized plate is discrimination and violating Charter rights. The Registry of Motor Vehicles discontinued the plate, which is Grabher’s last name, after a complaint of it being offensive.

Melvin Jr. trial a no-go for today as lawyer falls ill
Jimmy Melvin Jr.’s trial got the day off because his lawyer was sick. The 35-year-old is up on first-degree murder in the 2009 death of Terry Marriott Jr. The 34-year-old was shot to death while napping at a friend’s house in Harrietsfield.
