Several celebrations are being held across the province tomorrow in honour of National Aboriginal Day. The Sands at Salter event in Halifax will be broadcast on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. First proclaimed in 1996, June 21st was chosen as it’s the summer solstice, the day which many aboriginal communities celebrate their culture and heritage.

Former Upper Hammonds Plains pastor charged with sexual assault, exploitation
A former associate pastor in Upper Hammonds Plains has been charged with sexual assault and exploitation. 38-year-old Michael Oliver Fisher now lives in Antigonish, and is accused of a 2008 offence. The alleged female victim was 17 at the time. Fisher is due in Halifax court next month.
