Charges are pending against a driver who fled the scene of a fatal accident in Mount Denson early yesterday.

RCMP say there were four people in the car when it crashed into a single lane bridge on Bog Road. A 22 year old man died, a 16 year old girl and a 20 year old woman were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP say the 25 year old driver from Hants County fled the scene but was later arrested.

Industry experts are calling it part of the demise of the department store chain. Sears Canada is closing 59 stores and slashing 2,900 jobs under a court-supervised restructuring plan.

Sears locations in Halifax, Dartmouth and Truro are among those set to close.

Marketing experts says many department stores lost touch and stopped responding to the needs of consumers years ago as moe and more people shop online.
