A new Canadian Institute of Health Information report shows more of us end up in ERs because of alcohol than heart attacks. The number of Nova Scotians hospitalized for over-consumption was higher than the national average in 2016. We had 308 people for every 100,000, while across Canada it’s 239.

Jail time avoided for woman who defrauded employer
A Halifax woman has avoided jail for defrauding her former employer. 60-year-old Veronica Louise Delgado had pleaded guilty to swiping $80,000 between 2012-2015 when she worked at Can-Euro Investments. She got a conditional sentence of two years less a day, three years’ probation and restitution.
