The province has asked for conciliation in its dispute with teachers. The NSTU has rejected two tentative agreements, and could strike as soon as December 3rd. The union was denied a mediator by the province earlier this month, but members have agreed to resume talks in light of the conciliation request.

Eastern Passage fire
Flames erupted last night in a spectacular blaze at Fishermen’s Cove in Eastern Passage.
The Capital Seafood plant on Government Wharf Road was lit up a little after 9:00. There was extensive damage but nobody was hurt.
