A doctor who delivered more than 15,000 babies in his career at the IWK has passed away.

CBC rewports Dr. Irving Perlin, a Cape Breton native, was in his mid-nineties.

The Sydney native established his practise in Halifax in 1949 and practised here for 45 years. He also taught at the Dal medical school.

The Environment Department is investigating a strong smell of furnace oil in a building housing a number of businesses in Windsor.

The fire department and paramedics were called yesterday to the building on Water Street which used to be a car dealership. Crews also checked Lake Pisiquid for any spills but found nothing…although some people told CBC they felt sick.

The smell was first noticed last week at a book store.
