Visitor Arrested for Drug Smuggling at Dorchester Penitentiary

One person is facing charges after trying to smuggle drugs into Dorchester Penitentiary. The Correctional Service of Canada says more than 41 grams of hydromorphone beads were seized last Monday from a visitor with multiple packages containing contraband. The visitor was arrested and is currently facing criminal charges.

Case Against Officers in Bathurst Shooting Thrown Out

A judge has thrown out a manslaughter case against two New Brunswick police officers in the shooting death of a businessman at the Bathurst train station. Constables Patrick Bulger and Mathieu Boudreau wept and there was applause in the courtroom following the judge’s ruling today The officers were each charged with manslaughter with a weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of unlawfully pointing a firearm in the 2015 death of 51-year-old Michel Vienneau. Judge Anne Dugas-Horsman ruled that the prosecution failed to make its case after a preliminary hearing.
