April 2nd-8th has been declared Celtic Awareness Week in New Brunswick. About 42% of New Brunswickers can trace some of their heritage to Celtic origins, and the week’s celebrations will include Tartan Day on the 6th. The province has three active Celtic groups: the Irish Canadian Cultural Association of New Brunswick, the New Brunswick Scottish Cultural Association and the Central New Brunswick Welsh Society.

Province won’t budge on deadline to file property tax appeals
The province says it won’t budge on extending tomorrow’s deadline for appealing property taxes.
Opposition Leader Blaine Higgs has questioned the extra money the higher assessments will bring in. The Gallant government says 95% of assessments went down, stayed the same or went up less than 10% this year. Apartment and campground owners say they were hit hard.
