Saint John Jellybean Houses Demolished
The famed jellybean houses in Saint John are now nothing more than a pile of rubble. The three historic and colorful buildings that have graced Wellington Row for over century and a half were torn down on Saturday to make way for a new development. Saint John Non-Profit housing which had rights over the property say it would have been too expensive to keep the buildings as part of the development. Protestors yesterday tried to delay the demolition of the jellybean houses – forcing Saint John Police to intervene.
