A Campbellton man is now coach of the NHL Kings

John Stevens, who was born in Campbellton; is now the head hockey coach of the Los Angeles Kings.

The 50 year old Stevens, was also the Philadelphia Flyers coach.

In 2005, he won the Calder Cup as coach of the American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Phantoms, the team he led to that title as captain in 1998.

NB 150 funding

The federal government has approved 28 projects to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday in New Brunswick, but so far; 92 others have been rejected, according to the Telegraph-Journal.

The Acadien Festival in Caraquet got 400 thousand dollars in taxpayer’s cash to put on a free outdoor mega show on Acadian Day.

Mount Allison University’s Owens Art Gallery got just under 99 thousand.

The Metepenagiag Heritage Park received 70 thousand.

The Fundy Biosphere Initiative got just under 50 thousand.

The feds say 13 other projects have been approved, but the details have not been released.
