Canada Border Services has closed the seasonal Deer Island port of entry indefinitely. It brought traffic from Eastport, Maine via a ferry that hasn’t run since 2014. Travellers going from Deer Island to Eastport can continue to use the alternate route through Campobello Island.

Montreal man busted for drugs in Waterville
A Montreal man is up on drug trafficking after a vehicle stop in New Brunswick. RCMP pulled it over and did a search on Highway 2 in Waterville last weekend. What’s believed to be hash, cocaine, meth and steroids were seized, and 33-year-old Maxime Thifault was arrested. He’s due for a bail hearing on the 31st.
