Andrew Scheer thanks NB for support

The new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada is well-aware that New Brunswick gave him one of the strongest endorsements in the country.

Tory members in the province backed Andrew Scheer through all 13 rounds of balloting in the leadership contest.

With 60 per cent of the final tally in New Brunswick on the last round Saturday, Scheer only did better in his home province of Saskatchewan at 74 per cent, and PEI at 71 per cent.

NB new law starts tomorrow for drivers regarding cyclists

Cyclists and drivers in New Brunswick are being reminded that “Ellen’s Law” takes effect tomorrow.

Drivers must leave at least one metre of open space between their vehicle and a bicycle, when passing a bike that’s travelling in the same direction.

The amendment is named in memory of New Brunswick cyclist Ellen Watters, who died in December after being hit by a vehicle while on a training ride near Sussex.
