A university student distracted by his phone while walking along the Halifax waterfront went for an unintended swim in the Harbour on Friday. Police sources tell the Halifax Metro that the student was with a group of friends off Lower Water Street shortly before noon on Friday when he fell into the icy water. Police confirmed the young man had been looking at his phone at the time. He was quickly helped out of the water by his friends. Police say the man was not injured but due to the frigid water temperatures was taken to hospital as a precaution.
