Naked Teens

The media has won access to more information in the case of six teenaged boys charged with sharing intimate images of at least 20 high school girls in Bridgewater without their consent.

The C-B-C went to court last year seeking access to redacted portions of a search warrant issued in the case, which said police uncovered up to 75 images of teenage girls.

The Crown and defence argued it was in the interest of the public and the administration of justice if the information remained blacked out.

But Judge Paul Scovil has ruled media scrutiny of the courts is essential for a democratic society and also agreed the unredacted document may give a clearer picture of how the alleged crimes played out.

Coast Guard Awards

Eighteen members of the Canadian Coast Guard Atlantic Region were awarded Exemplary Service Medals last week at Government House in Halifax by lieutenant governor J.J. Grant.
The Canadian Coast Guard Exemplary Service Medal is part of the Canadian Honours System and recognizes Coast Guard employees who, in the course of their duties, provide exemplary service in difficult or critical situations.
