NS unemployment up in March

Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate went up to 8.6% in March.  Stats Can says we had 4600 more people working, but more were also looking.  The province is ahead of PEI at 10.1% unemployment, and Newfoundland and Labrador at 14.9%.  The national number is 6.7%.

9 1 1 concerns

Truro-area first responders are upset by what they call “drive by callers” and a lack of information.

They want people to get a little information if they can before calling 9 1 1 about vehicles off the road.

Stewiacke firefighters and an ambulance rushed to a reported car accident last Thursday, but they found the driver sitting in a warm, running car; waiting for the tow truck she had called.

She did not call 9 1 1, another driver did; and continued on their way, without stopping and providing any information, such as if the driver was hurt.
