Kings District RCMP was called to a home on Parkview Ave. yesterday at approximately noon after a citizen received a suspicious package in the mail.
Members of Kings District RCMP attended and set up a safety perimeter around the home. Some nearby residents were asked to evacuate the area. Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department and EHS staged near the scene. The RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) from New Minas and the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) of Nova Scotia RCMP was called. The EDU used a mobile robot to manipulate the package.
Investigators determined that the package contained materials that could have caused injury, however, were safely disposed of.
