Cat ferry numbers up

Paul and Val Stackhouse, the owners of the Hillsdale House Inn in Annapolis Royal say that the coming season looks promising, with advance bookings on the Cat ferry in Yarmouth up five-fold over last year.

Tourism revenues are estimated to be up from $2 billion in 2010 to $2.6 billion in 2016 and the goal is $4 billion by 2024.

The 2016 provincial tax revenue is estimated at $168 million, according to the Annapolis County Spectator.

Two people are dead after two separate accidents in the province.

A single vehicle accident near Milford sent two people to hospital yesterday afternoon.

A car went off the road on Highway 224 in Pine Grove and hit a tree.

A man and a woman were taken to hospital where the man was pronounced dead.  She’s in critical condition.

There was a single vehicle accident yesterday evening on Highway 217 in Rossway on Digby Neck where a car went off the road and hit a tree, killing the female driver.
