A North Atlantic right whale has been freed from fishing gear in the Gulf of St. Lawrence off New Brunswick.
Researchers from a number of institutes spotted the whale Wednesday and notified DFO. Fisheries officers joined the whale experts in cutting the gear from the whale and it swam free.
At least one of the dead Right Whales found last month died after getting tangled in fishing gear.
