RCMP trial

The Crown prosecutor gave his closing arguments to the RCMP Labour Code trial in Moncton saying the Mounties who responded to that shooting rampage in 2014 were outgunned and at a tactical disadvantage. Paul Adams also said some of the deaths and injuries could have been avoided if officers had been equipped with the appropriate equipment and training.

In their closing the lawyers for the RCMP, Mark Ertel and Ian Carter, said a shooting incident like this one was not reasonably foreseeable and the frequency of such incidents is extremely low. They said the force exercised due diligence in rolling out the carbine rifles…noting bureaucracy dictates how governments work.

The judge has reserved his decision until late September.
