Navy men involved in protest of protest

The military has confirmed two of the men who confronted Mi’kmaq protestors at Cornwallis Park on Canada Day are navy personnel. They were with three other men, apparently ex-military, who showed up at a ceremony by Mi’kmaq women to mourn the atrocities of Halifax’s founder, Edward Cornwallis.

The group of men were dressed the same, carried a Red Ensign flag and sang God Save the Queen as they approached.  Witnesses said they called themselves the Proud Boys and their Facebook profile shows the Proud Boys is an alt-right group that believes in Western supremacy.

Indigenous Organizer Rebecca Moore told CBC this shows their people are still being disrespected and dishonoured.
