Fire crews rescued a woman near Blomidon Park early yesterday morning.
The 53 year old woman called for help just before 11:00pm Tuesday night when she was unable to hike up through the Amethyst Cove area.
The Canning Volunteer Fire Department responded with ATVs and a hovercraft and got her off the beach. The woman was cold, wet and tired but otherwise okay.
The fire department’s Jeff Skaling told the Kings County Register the rescue went fairly quickly because the tide was out. He added the woman was smart to carry a cellphone and then stayed put awaiting rescue.
