More need for affordable housing in Moncton

Moncton is in dire need of more affordable housing.

CBC reports a new study was presented to city council this week which shows there were almost 5,400 families in Moncton with household incomes of less than $26,131 who are struggling to afford housing. Community Development Officer Kayla Breelove Carter told councillors the population is expected to increase, putting further strain on affordable housing. She also said the population is aging and there’s an increasing number of people with disabilities, which will increase the need for smaller, accessible homes and apartments.
