A new report by city Staff is recommending three arenas in Halifax should be closed and that council should consider the future of a fourth ice rink. The report suggests closing the Gray and Bowles arena in Dartmouth as well as the Devonshire arena in North end Halifax by the end of 2018. It also recommends studying the potenital closure of the Lebrun Centre in Bedford. All four ice rinks are considered old and outdated. A four ice pad BMO centre opened in Bedford in 2010 and a new four rink facility is currently under construction in Dartmouth.
