Parlee Beach reopened for swimmers yesterday after being closed for the hot weekend because of concerns over bacteria levels.
The Health Department issued the warning as a preventive measure after the heavy rainfall Friday and concerns it could lead to increased surface runoff and cause high bacteria levels. Testing shows the water is safe and the no swimming advisory was lifted yesterday.
CBC reports, however, that some people were still reluctant to go into the water even after assurances from staff it was safe.
