Young athletes, their parents, supporters and a TSN camera crew were at Munro Park in North Sydnbey to make the unveiling of all the renovations at the park which won the $250,000 grand prize in the national Kraft Project Play competition in 2015.
Angela Hull and Sandy Cantwell-Kerr of the Northside Soccer Association were the driving forces behind the park winning the competition.
The inaugural soccer game was played between players in the Northside under-11 division. They and the spectators enjoyed a free barbecue, snacks and games courtesy of Kraft Heinz. Thanks to the prize money, the field has been raised and a piped drainage bed installed. There are new player benches, bleachers and a monument dedicated to the people of North Sydney.
