Starting on Monday June 26th, the Southwest Miramichi River Bridge Number 2 in Blackville will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic as the decking and sidewalk are replaced.
Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin MLA Jake Stewart took Transportation and Infrastructure minister Bill Fraser to task for what Stewart says that people in Blackville only found out about the closure with second-hand information from a local construction company.
Blackville Mayor Chris Hennessy says that there is a plan for emergency services access when the bridge is closed.
It will be off-limits for about 60 days.
