An investigation by SIRT into a complaint by a citizen about police deleting video from his cellphone has been expanded into an investigation of possible excessive use of force.
It started with the arrest of a man outside a bar on Grafton Street April 27th. A by-stander who recorded it complained an officer deleted video of the arrest and SIRT began investigating. Now the police watchdog says it is also investigating the possible use of excessive force and assault in the arrest.
