A local basketball legend and principal of Citadel High School as lost his fight with cancer. Wade Smith died on Friday at the age of 50 after being diagnosed two months ago with stomach cancer. Smith was a high school basketball standout who went on to star for ST.F.X before starting a teaching and coaching career. He eventually became principal of Citadel High. Smith had just celebrated his 50th birthday in May.
