Miramichi Airport Commission officials are downplaying the reduction in flight movements reported by Stats Can, and still believe they remain on solid footing after getting 1 million dollars in public funds to help build its brand new terminal.
Stats Can says that only 90 takeoffs and landings were registered to the Miramichi Airport in January, where 344 took place during that same month in 2016.
That’s because in part, to a cut in charter flight activity that used to carry hundreds of workers to the Alberta oilsands.
