Thunderstorm knocks out power on Acadian Peninsula

It was a hot, muggy day through much of the province yesterday…and that usually means thunderstorms.

There was a severe storm with heavy winds that rolled over the Acadian Peniunsula last night knocking out power to thousands of people. Power poles were snapped, roof tiles were blown off buildings in Caraquet. The causeway to Lameque Island was blocked by all the downed poles. NB Power crews and some from outside the province will be trying to get things strung back up through the day.
