Pollett River Run

The annual Pollett River run was held on the weekend near Elgin.

Hundreds of people floated down the river…many in colourful costumes trying to stay afloat in makeshift vessels as they celebrated spring. Some were maybe doing a little too much celebrating as RCMP arrested two people and towed 14 vehicles.

RCMP Constable Cornelius Brown told the Times and Transcript the annual river run is a major event for the RCMP. They arrested one person for impaired driving and another for assault with a weapon. 14 vehicles were also towed because they were parked on the wrong side of the road blocking emergency vehicles. He added signs were posted.

Volunteers from the Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance was cleaning up the several tonnes of debris left by participants.
