The feds claim they have a new plan to fix the Phoenix payroll system at the Miramichi Pay Centre.
The Trudeau liberals say that civil servants will be reimbursed for hiring tax accountants to sort through their pay problems and federal departments will be allowed to re-hire laid-off payroll employees.
The Phoenix system has caused financial issues for 82,000 federal civil servants.
Some government workers have not been paid for months.
