Some people of Lake George have filed a court action against Yarmouth, accusing the town negligence regardomg a property it owns in their community.
The land was once the site of a sawmill, and was bought by the town 12 years ago to block similar future activity and to protect the Lake George watershed.
People are upset due to hundreds of truckloads of litter-laden material that was spread on it by the town about two years ago.
It was said to be Class B compost to reclaim the land and to assist natural growth.
However, residents say it looks like a dumpsite and they worried what some items in the material such as metals and plastics could have on area wells, surface water; and the soil.
