Part of the morning announcements in schools in Halifax may include an ackowledgement that the school sits on traditional Mi’kmaq lands.
The School Board is considering the idea. Board member Jessica Rose calls it a fantastic idea that could help aboriginal students gain a sense of pride in their heritage. She also thinks the curriculum should have more on the history of indigenous people.
