Councillors to debate Cornwallis again

Halifax Regional Council will again debate the name Cornwallis and whether it should be removed from public places.

Critics have complained for years that names of streets parks and other places should not honour Cornwallis because of the bounty he placed on Mi’kmaq scalps of men, women and children.

Last May Council voted narrowly against debating the issue…but new Councillor Shawn Cleary gave notice this week he weants it on the agenda for next week’s council meeting.
