Fishermen lose court fight over big turbine

Fishermen have lost their court fight to have a large tidal turbine removed from Minas Passage.

The Bay of Fundy Inshore Fishermen’s Association argued in court in February that the environment minister granted approval of the Cape Sharp Tidal project without enough environmental data.

Justice Heather Robertson released her decision yesterday rejecting the group’s claims, saying extraordinary efforts were made to evaluate risk.

The Fishermen’s group is considering whether to appeal.
